GOOGLE Google 'stops' to their employees
With a 10% increase of wages labor attempts to prevent defections
WASHINGTON UNITED STATES (10/NOV/2010) .- The internet giant Google rose 10% the salaries of its 23 000 employees in a bid to halt defections to rivals such as Facebook, said Wednesday the Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper, citing as sources "people familiar with the matter", said the increase, which was first reported on the blog Silicon Alley Insider "will become effective in January.
The company's CEO, Eric Schmidt, said by e-mail to employees of Mountain View, the headquarters of the company California (Western U.S.).
"We want to ensure that they feel rewarded for their hard work," Schmidt said in the message. "We continue to attract the best people to Google", he added.
According to the newspaper, about 10% of Facebook employees had worked for Google.
